Tonight Margaret, Mom, and I went to see and hear Greg Mortenson speak at St. Martin's Univ. He's the author of "Three Cups of Tea," the highly acclaimed book about one man's efforts to spread peace in Pakistan and Afghanistan by building schools for educating girls. He was even nominated for the Nobel peach prize. Margaret read the book back in January and has been keenly interested in Mortenson's efforts ever since. When she heard he was coming to Olympia, she just HAD to go. The place was packed with around 3,000 people, but she listened attentively and patiently waited her turn in line afterward to have him sign her book. She was flying high! Now she's inspired to enlist the help of her classmates to start a "pennies for peace" program at school...
