The Surprising Story of the Three Little Pigs

Last night Margaret debuted in her first starring role of a theater performance. She was Pig #2 in a funny spoof of the Three Little Pigs, Billy Goats Gruff, and the Three Little Bears combined. She had a LOT of lines to memorize, which she handled no problem, and had a great time on stage (and back stage too).

If you have any interest in watching the video, you can find it at www.olydix.net
Considering the kids were all ages 7-13, and they only had 1 week to pull the whole thing together, it's remarkably good. Very entertaining!

Our very own wildlife refuge...

Would you believe we had a peacock and two deer in our yard this evening? For real. We've seen the peacock roaming around the neighborhood since we got home from vacation last night, and tonight when Jeff went to take the garbage out, guess who was in our garage?! As we followed it out the driveway, we came across two deer. The only thing missing were the two bald eagles that sometimes fly overhead...

Sunriver continued...

My "happy place"

Our annual trip to the Hot Lava Baking Company for donuts...

Caroline and Margaret coming back from their trail ride. Serious faces from the "mosquito forest" they had to go through...

A little ice cream treat from Goody's after the magic show on Thursday night. We ended up having to ride our bikes home in the pitch dark, which the girls thought was a little scary but I thought was quite fun.

Caroline feeding the trout at the High Desert Museum. We LOVE this museum and spent five hours there this year between all the indoor and outdoor exhibits.

Margaret watching the stream full of trout. We especially enjoyed the "Desert Dwellers" presentation where they brought out various raptors and other animals for us to see up close and personal, including a badger and a baby porcupine. One of the raptors flew directly over our heads, even flapping its wings right onto our heads--quite exhilarating!

The High Desert Museum also had an interesting exhibit on the Old West, complete with a "Hell on Wheels" traveling saloon and gambling wagon. The actors were great with the kids, showing them card tricks and offering them whiskey :-)

One last ride on Saturday morning before leaving for home. We all went for a ride along the river loop together--the only time we made it around the river loop the whole week. There's always next year!

Sunriver AT LAST!

We're here! We made it back to our favorite vacation spot, and boy did it feel like a long time coming this summer. The girls didn't like the changes that are being made in the Village ("Why can't they just keep it the same?"), but otherwise are quite excited to be back at what has become one of their favorite places too ("Sunriver is the best thing that ever happened to me...")

Grammy & Logan came to wake the sleepy heads up and get them out of bed. Margaret & Caroline (and Mom & Dad) have been enjoying the lazy mornings of sleeping in...

This is the life!

Our annual float down the river included a new element this year...a double innertube for Margaret & Caroline to ride in behind the kayaks. It was a more comfortable ride for everyone, although they have new nicknames now: numbbums!

Logan is a complete natural in the pool. He happily splashed and kicked for nearly an hour, never minding when he got water in his face or mouth. What a cute and happy kid.

Papa and Jameson playing in the pool. They invented some fun games with Uncle Jeff that Jameson really enjoyed, although I'm not sure how much Jeff liked being called a whale... :-)

Caroline and Margaret have been doing a great job of entertaining Logan--and he entertains them too!

A lovely oatmeal/yogurt facial treatment at the condo after a long day in the sun! Caroline's been studying up on her skin treatments in her American Girl Skin & Nails book...
