Fourth of July

Caroline proudly displaying the parachute she captured in our driveway. If you've never tried them, these are really fun fireworks that launch parachuters into the air that float down slowly so the kids can chase them everywhere...

Margaret retrieved her share of parachutes over at the Barrette's party. She even had enough to decorate her hair with them!

This is Jeff getting ready to set off his ballistic creation--a parachute launcher on wheels, that (in theory) could be aimed by the operator in order to get the parachutes to land in a particular place. In this case, the goal was to launch from up in the cul-de-sac so that the paratroopers would land in the Barrette's yard. Not so much... The first explosion tipped the thing over on its side and blew off the hook for the handle so that it launched the next couple parachuters parallel with the ground, right under a van in the neighbor's driveway. Not sure Jeff will be invited back to participate in the "create your own firework" event next year.
