Too late for a restaurant, so we treated the girls to their first (and ONLY!) "room service" meal.
Wandering around the city, seeing the sites...
Making new friends at the Museum of Natural History...
Margaret and Caroline loved the chandeliers at the hotel!
Enjoying a 3D simulator ride at the Museum of American History
Margaret at the Jefferson Memorial, holding the Washington Monument
Jeff and Caroline resting and reflecting at the WWII Memorial
Sharing a quiet moment on the long walk back from the Lincoln Memorial
Margaret was excited to get to visit the Shakespeare Library, and we lucked into a personal tour by one of the volunteers who took a special interest in us upon learning that Margaret was preparing to perform in her first Shakespeare play this spring.
Dinner at Luigi's FAMOUS Italian restaurant (or so they claim). We had a great waiter and lovely dinner. The only disappointment was that they were out of cannoli for dessert :-(
Margaret posing as an early jet setter at the Air & Space Museum
Caroline was happy to find one of her heros, Amelia Earhart
Good morning Birthday Girl! Caroline's 9th Birthday! Wow it's going fast!

We celebrated by taking a day off of the educational/historical touring and went to Busch Gardens Theme Park in Williamsburg
The highlight for both girls was the great big water slide, Escape From Pompei. So scary and so fun, all in one!
Next it was on to the historic settlement at Jamestown
Colonial Williamsburg was loads of fun and best of all, Caroline finally found her souvenir (a colonial bonnet)
Learning about the kitchen/cooking during colonial times at the Governor's Palace
Back in D.C. for one more day before flying home, we visited the National Cathedral. Wow is that every big and beautiful!

So many more pictures and happy memories--too many to share here in one sitting. We'll be remembering this trip for a long time!
